Pineapple Dance Studio Comes To Kingston

On Saturday 16th April between 10am and 5pm in Kingston market place, two of Pineapple Studio’s hottest professional dancers served up two unique, free 20 minute dance workshops every hour, open to all ages and abilities.

The free workshops were given by Pineapple Studio’s Michelle Queen and Bonnie Parsons on an LED dance floor - one of the first of its kind in the world - unique because of its capability to turn human generated energy into power.

Taking part was as easy as coming down on Saturday to the town centre and signing up to one of the sessions. Those who took part were able to see the energy they generate on the dance floor used to charge a smart phone or power an iPod.

The special classes form part of the latest leg of the Sainsbury’s Energy Tour. Hot off the heels of its presence at the London Ideal Home Show the Sainsbury’s Energy Experience will be in Kingston for one day only.

Through the interactive activities in the Sainsbury’s Energy truck, cost conscious people of Kingston were given an insight into how they can reduce their household energy bills by reducing energy consumption.

The activity has been launched to celebrate Sainsbury’s Energy, a new partnership launched in February 2011 by Sainsbury’s and British Gas, who have teamed up to offer face to face in store energy advice for customers interested in:

1.    A full suite of home energy services including gas, electricity, home insulation and solar panels with up to 10,000 Nectar points available to those who sign up.

2.    Bespoke energy advice and renewable energy solutions, available in selected Sainsbury’s stores across the country, including solar panels.

Amisha Patel, Trading Manager for Sainsbury’s Energy, comments;

 “We know from the British Gas Home Energy Report 2011 that people who make their homes energy efficient have reduced their gas consumption by up to 44% saving up to £322 on their Gas bills. That’s why we’re ensuring we meet people face to face to answer their questions, talk through their individual energy needs and assess the options available to them.”
